Defining Plato

Plato is an AI companion designed to bring clarity to job hunting. Instead of vague rejection emails, it provides a visual breakdown of skills, highlighting strengths and areas for growth. My role was to give Plato a face and voice, making job seekers feel connected rather than just interacting with another digital tool. As well as increase interaction with Plato and build a better user interface to understand your goals and skills at a glance.

Character & Branding

To craft Plato’s identity, we focused on making him curious, wise, inclusive, friendly, and optimistic—a guide rather than just a machine. This was a completely fresh approach, and we experimented with various AI-generated imagery and concepts before landing on the perfect representation. The key breakthrough? Emotion is in the eyes. By refining Plato’s design to convey warmth and understanding through his gaze, we created an AI assistant users want to talk to.

Meet Plato

Plato isn’t just another AI assistant—he’s your personal career companion. Designed to be curious, wise, and encouraging, Plato helps job seekers navigate their career path with clarity and confidence. He doesn’t just show you job matches; he shows you your strengths, where you can improve, and how to level up your skills. With a friendly face and an intuitive, gamified approach, Plato turns the job hunt into a journey of growth, one where you always know your next step.

UX/UI Updates

The original platform was overloaded with data. To simplify, we introduced a hexagonal stat graph that visually compares a user’s skills to job requirements. Users can then “level up” by taking courses, making skill-building feel like a game rather than a task.

Challenges & Impact

The biggest challenge was making AI feel human. Once we refined Plato’s expression, engagement skyrocketed. Job seekers began speaking naturally, allowing Plato to better understand their skills. The result? People love Plato. This project reflects my design philosophy, great design isn’t just about looking good, it’s about creating an emotional connection.
